The problem
Repeated main-line backups every few months. A previous company had cabled the line three times without ever putting a camera down it. The homeowner was being quoted a full replacement.
How we fixed it
- 01Ran a sewer camera from the cleanout and located a root mass and offset joint at 38 feet.
- 02Hydro-jetted the line to remove roots and years of buildup, then re-cameraed to confirm the pipe body was still sound.
- 03Excavated a four-foot section, replaced the failed clay joint with PVC and a proper coupling.
- 04Backfilled, compacted and re-seeded the lawn.
The result
A targeted repair for a fraction of a full line replacement, with video documentation the homeowner keeps for resale. No backups since.
